The Avatar (2009)

If there's one thing Avatar really succeeded, it's in telling beautifully and artistically a very simple story.

Perhaps you'll agree that you've seen/heard/read/experienced several times the plot: A love story between two star-crossed lovers from both worlds, they must defy and sacrificed everything for a real happy ending. This masterpiece is a retelling of Romeo and Juliet and Pocahontas in one movie that will surely captivate moviegoers of all ages. Set in Year 2051 at the distant planet of Pandora, human Jake and Na'vi Neytiri fell for each other amidst threats of conspiracy and treachery. In its simpleness, it tackles almost all current issues the world face nowadays such as colonization, commercialization, environment protection, oppression, heroism, bravery, war, peace and love.

Technically, the film is superb and perhaps the best (so far) among digitally-enhanced movies. Every scene is a sure feast to the eye. I recommend you watch in 3D to really appreciate special effects. Like all James Cameron's films, Avatar ran for almost 200 minutes (including end credits) but you would never got bored since the transition is fast-paced and really entertaining. Just don't dare blink your eyes or you'll missed everything!
